Growing: Lemon Tree Flowers

My lemon tree has started to flower! The tree is gradually getting covered in beautiful white buds. This is now the time give the plant some liquid fertiliser (I’ve chosen an organic liquid veg plant feed but you can get citrus tree fertilisers) as it is putting a lot of energy into producing those flowers. If, like mine, your tree is inside you may also want to help pollinate the flowers to ensure you get lemons next year. I use a soft make-up brush which I gently brush from flower to flower ensuring the Stigma (the female part of the plant normally in the very centre of the flower) gets lots of pollen on it’s tip. Fingers crossed for more lemons next year!
